80% of our customers are either repeat or referral, and that's no accident. Long before longer warranties became popular with companies selling the same product or service, but for more money, we at Certified Transmissions, Inc. partnered with a research frim in El Monte, CA who speicalizes in strictly R&D of transmissions to find out exactly why they don't last as long as they should. They say a chain is only as strong as its weakest link and the same is true of transmissions, transfer cases, and differentials.
In many vehicles today, the transmission, differential, and sometimes the transfer case, have a common sump and share the same fluid. A problem in one component can spel disaster for the other components. More importantly, the majority of alleged transmission problems we see in our shop are not really transmission problems at all. They are electrical malfuctions of the computer systems that control the transmission. In over half the cases, we are able to solve a perceived transmission problem by not even removing the transmission from the vehicle. We end up diagnosing and correcting an electrical issue that is making the transmission malfunction.
The first clue is a "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light coming on in the dash. Other systems will have a trans temperature light come on. Many will have the Overdrive Light flash. If the computer system "sees" something it doesn't like, the software will often inhibit the regular shift schedule and the driver will notice the transmission is not shifting like it should.
Many well-meaning shops will be quick to condemn the transmission and recommend a new transmission. Many times, this will not fix the problem, or if it does, it will only be temporary because the root cause has not been determined and fixed. Sadly, this type of diagnostics and repair is beyond the scope of most average shops. It takes an expert to know.
We have been transmission specialists for over 32 years and offering a 5 year warranty for 20. One thing we have learned over the years is that if you don't find the root cause of the problem, to begin with, it's almost guaranteed to resurface down the road. Many times, a problem is due to an inherent design flaw or marginal design. Being partners with TransGo Research, who specializes in finding and fixing such flaws, along with our own in-house R&D department, our customers get the best of the best; the latest and greatest. This takes more time and many custom designed and manufactured parts, but it is what sets us apart from the rest. We have no competitors because nobody does what we do.
Our customers tend to be people that plan on keeping their vehicle a while and/or use their vehicle for work or extreme duty where a transmission problem isn't an option. This is one of the reasons we don't do work for used car lots or fleets with managers who have narrow vision. Nobody likes to pay for the same repair twice, and we see to it our customers don't either. Like we tell our loyal customers, "You might own the vehicle, but we own the transmission."
Call and set up an appointment today for a written estimate. And don't forget, "The best car you can buy may just be the one you own."
